Study Says 10 Fruits and Longer Life ''100% Health Benefits''

Five servings of fruits and veggies a day has long been the daily minimum we’ve been encouraged to aim for in order to maintain good health, but that scientists are discovering more about our nutritional needs, the “5-a-day” recommendation is quickly becoming more outdated than ever. A new study from Imperial College London revealed that a minimum of 10 servings of fruits and veggies a day is linked to a healthier, longer lifespan.

This was a very large-scale, meta-analysis study, involving all available research that included up to two million people from populations all over the world. It also included 43,000 cases of heart disease, 47,000 cases of stroke, 81,000 cases of cardiovascular disease, 112,000 cases of cancer and 94,000 deaths.

The researchers discovered that a higher intake of fruits and veggies was associated with a significantly reduced risk of disease and death. They found that 800 grams a day, which is the equivalent of about 10 servings, could cut the risk of heart disease by 24 percent, stroke by 33 percent, cardiovascular disease by 28 percent, total cancer by 13 percent and premature death by 31 percent.

If you’re pretty sure you’re already getting the old 5-a-day minimum, that’s still a great start — because the researchers found that even this helps cut the risk of disease. Even as little as 200 grams of fruits and veggies a day was shown to reduce the risk of heart disease by 16 percent, stroke by 18 percent and cardiovascular disease by 13 percent.

In addition to the serving sizes that the researchers analyzed, they also looked at the specific types of fruits and veggies that had the most positive impacts. The following may be the best choices when it comes to preventing heart disease, stroke, cardiovascular disease and premature death:

Apples
Pears
Citrus fruits
Leafy greens
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Cabbage

The following veggies were associated with a lower risk of cancer:

Green veggies like spinach and green beans
Yellow veggies like peppers and carrots
Cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage

The data was more limited for determining which types of fruits and veggies could reduce the risk of disease and early death, so it’s possible that other fruits and veggies could have similar benefits. More research is needed to look into the specifics of how the nutrients from certain fruits and veggies lead to certain benefits, including how to prepare them to maximize their benefits as well as how fruit and veggie intake relates to other causes of death that aren’t from cancer or cardiovascular disease.

So, what exactly is one serving size, anyway? According to the researchers, at 80 grams per serving, this is the equivalent of one small piece of fruit like an apple or a banana. For cooked veggies like peas, spinach, broccoli or cauliflower, one serving size is about the equivalent of three heaped tablespoons.

Want to know about another great side effect of upping your daily fruit and veggie intake to at least 10 servings a day? Previous research has shown that it may also boost happiness, proving it has great psychological benefits in addition to some of the more obvious physical benefits.

Dhirubhai Ambani Success Life Full Story, HINDI & ENGLISH

Dhirubhai Ambani Biography

Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani, better known as Dhirubhai Ambani, was one of India’s greatest visionaries and iconic business tycoons. He was the founder of Reliance Industries Limited (established in 1966) and contributed greatly to the company’s meteoric rise. Reliance Industries is now ranked among the world’s top 500 companies in terms of the revenue it generates. Dhirubhai Ambani also founded Reliance Capital and Reliance Power and remained a dominant figure in the textile, petroleum, power and infrastructure industries of India until his death in 2002. Dhirubhai’s rags-to-riches story remains one of the most retold legends of corporate India and is an inspiration to the youth of this nation.

Childhood and Education of Dhirubhai Ambani

Dhirubhai was born on 28 December 1932, into a Modh Baniya family, in Chorwad village in the district of Junagarh, Gujarat. Father Hirachand Govardhandas Ambani and mother Jamunaben Hirachand Ambani were folks of limited means and raised Dhirubhai and his four siblings – Trilochanaben, Ramnikbhai, Jasuben and Natubhai – with all what they had then. Despite being the son of a school teacher, Dhirubhai showed little interest in formal education; however, he grew up to be a hardworking, intelligent and tenacious young man. Even as a teenager, Dhirubhai showed a great deal of skill in retailing, selling oil and setting up fritters stalls, thus earning money to help his impoverished family. After completing his initial five years of education at the village school, he went to Junagarh to study further. Though not an academically brilliant student, Dhirubhai displayed exceptional leadership skills.

Dhirubhai’s confidence and organizational skills were tested when he defied the Junagarh Nawab’s ban on rallies and hoisted the Indian flag to celebrate the country’s independence. His first speech there inspired many and he became a hero for defying the police and the concerned authorities. The Nawab continued to hold off from joining the Indian Republic and Dhirubhai actively participated in the Praja Mandal protests, thus associating with patriotic rebel leaders who supported joining India. The Nawab ultimately yielded and Junagarh became a part of independent India.

Socialism and politics attracted 16-year-old Dhirubhai, who started dreaming about a new and progressive India, where industries would develop at an unprecedented rate and larger-than-life dreams of industrious young men would come true. Dhirubhai was determined to do his bit for his country and for himself. His father’s failing health and family’s financial crisis, however, forced Dhirubhai to give up his education and political interests and made him to set off to Aden to find work.

Dhirubhai Ambani's Early Career

By the time Dhirubhai reached Aden, it was one of the busiest ports in the world. At Aden, he started working as a clerk with A. Besse & Co – one of the biggest trading firms in the region. Dhirubhai made good use of this opportunity and learnt much about commodity trading, imports and exports, wholesale merchandising, marketing, and sales and distribution. He learnt about currency trading from the people of various nationalities whom he met at the port and mastered accounting, book keeping and drafting legal documents by moonlighting at a Gujarati trading firm. He soon discovered that he had a natural flair for speculative trading. In 1954, after marrying Kokilaben, Dhirubhai was sent by his employer to work in the Shell Oil Refinery that had come up in Aden. Having learnt the oil trade, Dhirubhai started to dream of owning his own refinery someday. Towards the end of the decade, when all the Indians in Aden were migrating to Britain, Dhirubhai decided to return to India and become a part of the phenomenal growth that the country had been awaiting. The implementation of the second five-year plan was underway and Dhirubhai astutely grasped the promise of industrial development and his own opportunities for growth.

Back in India, Dhirubhai found that he had very little capital to go into any purposeful business. He eschewed the idea of opening up a small grocery or cloth shop. His dreams were too big for him to be content with such humble trade. He immediately got in touch with his Arabian contacts, offering to export spices, sugar and other Indian commodities at very low prices. His margins were low; however, Dhirubhai chose to deal in bulk and as the orders started coming in, Reliance Commercial Corporation was born. Excellent service was its hallmark and trust became an important factor when people traded with Reliance.

Dhirubhai Ambani becoming Polyester Prince

Dhirubhai came to be known as a dependable and astute person. At times when he required funds, he approached Gujarati money lenders and traders with the promise of astounding interests and bonuses. He never failed in keeping his promise, absorbing the losses and sharing the profits with everyone. When he realized that commodities would not take him far, Dhirubhai decided to diversify into yarn. Dealing in textiles was a risky business as the fluctuations in prices were quite high. Dhirubhai, however, learned the tricks of the trade quickly and realized that there was more money in the business. He borrowed heavily and embarked on a journey that took him to dizzying heights.

Setting up his first textile mill in Naroda, Ahemdabad, was the biggest hurdle of his life. With other mill owners opposing the sale of Vimal, the polyester brand, Dhirubhai and his team of highly motivated sales personnel cut through the middlemen (wholesalers) and went straight to the retailers. The popularity of the fabric and the persuasiveness of Dhirubhai led a number of retailers to sell "Only Vimal". A sound marketing strategy backed up the product and all of India was soon wearing textiles that came out of the Reliance factory. He equipped his factory with the best technology that could scale up with the rise in demand.

The growth of Reliance Industries was unprecedented and of the likes that had not been imagined until then. Reliance went from a turnover of Rs. 70 crore in the mid-1970s to being a Rs. 75,000-crore empire in 2002. High finance was one of Dhirubhai's key areas of success. He raised a great deal of money by issuing six series of convertible debentures and then converting them to equity shares at a premium. Reliance later diversified into energy, power, infrastructure services, retail, capital markets, telecommunications, logistics and information technology. By the time Dhirubhai died, in 2002, his sons Mukesh Ambani and Anil Ambani had taken over the charge of Reliance Industries Limited and Dhirubhai had become a national hero.

Jio Crossed 100-Million Customer Mark in Just 170 days, Mukesh Ambani

Reliance Jio has crossed the 100 million customers mark in 170 days of launch, its Chairman Mukesh Ambani said today as he announced a slew of offers, including 20 percent more data than any rival from April.

Reliance Jio, he said, will continue to offer free voice calls and national roaming post April 1, when its promotional free voice and data offer ends.

For existing customers, he announced that the current benefits will continue under a new tariff plan for another 12 months by payment of Rs 303 per month and a one-time joining fee of Rs 99.

"Jio launched its services on September 5 last year. Today, just 170 days later, Jio has crossed the 100 million customer mark on its 4G LTE, all-IP wireless broadband network," Ambani said in a speech broadcast live on the company's social media accounts.

His return to the telecom business after a decade with offer of free voice and cheap data plans has shaken the Indian telecom industry, forcing incumbents to consider mergers and match its tariff.

With its Happy New Year Offer, which was similar to its initial promotional offer of free voice and data to attract customers, coming to an end on March 31, Jio will start offering its tariff plans from April 1.

Ambani said all domestic calls to any network including STD and roaming will continue to be free.

For data, Jio will not only match the highest selling tariffs of each of the other leading Indian telecom operators but also provide 20 per more data in each of these plans, he said.

For the existing 100 million users, he announced a Jio Prime Membership programme wherein customers can enrol by paying one-time fee of Rs 99 and continue to get the existing benefits till

March 2019 at "a rock-bottom introductory price of only Rs 303 per month."

"For 170 days, Jio has added on average nearly 7 customers on its network every single second of every single day. This is an unprecedented level of acceptance for any technology company anywhere in the world," he said.

With 200 crore minutes of voice and video calls, more than 100 crore GB or 3.3 crore GB a day of data has been consumed on the Jio network, making India the number one country in the world for mobile data usage, he said.

Data usage on Jio almost matches the usage in US and nearly half more than all of China.

"A significant portion of this data is consumed as video and Jio carries nearly 5.5 crore hours of video daily on its network. This makes Jio one of the largest mobile video networks globally," he said.

Ambani said Jio has more than double the number of 4G base stations of all other Indian operators put together.

"And we are making our network better, faster and stronger with each passing day. In the coming months, we will more than double our data capacity and this means even better quality for our customers," he said, adding by end-2017, Jio network will be present in nearly all the cities, towns and villages of India, covering 99 percent of population

Are Boys Smarter Than Girls?

In the study, researchers read a story about a highly intelligent person to a group of 96 boys and girls, ages 5, 6 and 7. The kids were asked to guess the intelligent person's gender. After that, the kids were shown pictures of pairs of adults, some of the same sex and some opposite sex, and were asked to say which one they thought was intelligent. Then, the kids were asked to assign certain traits to men and women. The results show that five-year-old girls are just as likely as boys to assign brilliance to their own gender, but the six and seven-year-old girls started believing that less and less. While older boys said other men were likely to be "really, really smart" 65% of the time, their girl classmates only selected women as "really, really smart" 48% of the time.

It gets worse. The girls in the study tended to get better grades on average than the boys in their class, but they didn't link that achievement with brilliance. So not only do young girls think they're less likely to become brilliant, they already don't believe they are. This, researchers say, has an influence on our futures.

The man who says he hasn't eaten or drunk for 75 years, Why are eminent doctors taking him seriously

Prahlad Jani is being held in isolation in a hospital in Ahmedabad, Gurjarat, where he is being closely monitored by India's defence research organization, who believe he may have a genuine quality which could help save lives.
He has now spent six days without food or water under strict observation and doctors say his body has not yet shown any adverse effects from hunger or dehydration.
Mr Jani, who claims to have left home aged seven and lived as a wandering sadhu or holy man in Rajasthan, is regarded as a 'breatharian' who can live on a 'spiritual life-force' alone. He believes he is sustained by a goddess who pours an 'elixir' through a hole in his palate. His claims have been supported by an Indian doctor who specializes in studies of people who claim supernatural abilities, but he has also been dismissed by others as a "village fraud."
India's Defence Research Development Organisation, whose scientists develop drone aircraft, intercontinental ballistic missiles and new types of bombs. They believe Mr Prahlad could teach them to help soldiers survive longer without food, or disaster victims to hang on until help arrives.
"If his claims are verified, it will be a breakthrough in medical science," said Dr G Ilavazhagan, director of the Defence Institute of Physiology & Allied Sciences.
